What to Expect From a Boudoir Photography Experience on the Gold Coast

If you’ve been thinking about booking a boudoir shoot but you’re wondering what actually happens once you walk through the studio door, you’re definitely not alone.

Most women who come into Luxe are nervous.

They’ve never done anything like this before. They have no idea how to pose. They’re worried they’ll feel awkward in front of the camera, or that somehow everyone else who does a boudoir shoot knows something they don’t.

But I promise, nobody walks into the studio already knowing what they’re doing.

You genuinely don’t need to know what you’re doing.

From the moment you arrive at my Burleigh Heads studio, I’ll guide you through the whole thing. So if nerves or simply not knowing what to expect have been holding you back, let me walk you through what a Luxe Boudoir experience actually looks like.

Before Your Boudoir Photoshoot

Once you’re booked in, I’ll send you my Session Prep Guide with everything you need to know before the day.

It covers how to prepare, what to bring, outfit ideas and all those little questions that tend to start popping into your head as your session gets closer.

For your session, bring things you love. A favourite bodysuit, lingerie, an oversized shirt, stockings, heels and whatever feels like you. If you’ve bought something new especially for your shoot, bring that too.

We’ll usually get through around three different outfits during your session, and if you’re unsure about what will photograph well, bring anything and everything. We can go through it all together when you arrive, and I can help with what might photograph the best.

When You Arrive at the Studio

First things first: you’re absolutely allowed to be nervous!

You might walk in excited and ready to go.

Or you might walk in thinking, What the hell have I signed myself up for?

Both are completely normal.

My private boudoir studio is in Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast, and there’s no rushing you through the door and straight in front of a camera.

We’ll have a chat, go through everything you’ve brought with you and choose your outfits together, so there’s no pressure to have it all figured out before you arrive.

This also gives you time to get comfortable with me and the studio before we even think about taking a photo.

Hair & Makeup Comes First

Your experience starts with professional hair and makeup, which takes around an hour.

You can sit down, relax, have a glass of bubbly and let us look after you!

We’ll talk about the look you’d like, whether that’s softer and more natural or something with a little more glamour.

And this hour is actually really nice if you’ve arrived feeling nervous. By the time your hair and makeup is finished, you’ve had a chance to settle in, chat and get used to being in the studio.

“But I Have No Idea How to Pose”

Good. You don’t need to.

I don’t expect you to walk into the studio knowing what to do with your hands, where to look or how to position your body.

That’s my job.

I’ll guide you through everything from where to put your hands, where to look, how to position your legs, your shoulders, your face and all the tiny little adjustments that make a huge difference in photographs.

You won’t be left standing there wondering what you're supposed to do next.

Your photoshoot lasts around two hours. We’ll start slowly, move through your different outfits and different areas of the studio, and I’ll guide you the entire way!

You Don’t Have to Show More Than You Want To

This is really important.

There’s no level of undress you need to reach for something to “count” as boudoir.

Some women love more revealing images. Others feel incredible in a bodysuit, an oversized shirt, lingerie with more coverage or wrapped in a sheet.

There’s no right way to do it.

We’ll talk about what you’re comfortable with, and you are always in control of how much you want to show.

If there’s something you don’t want to wear or a particular style of image you don’t feel comfortable doing, we simply don’t do it.

Your gallery should feel like YOU.

What Happens After the Shoot?

Once your session is finished, I’ll go through your photos and carefully select and edit the strongest images from the day.

Then, usually around two to three weeks later, it’s time for your Reveal & Ordering Session.

This is the first time you’ll see your finished photographs.

For a lot of women, this is the part they’ve been most nervous (and excited!) about, actually seeing their finished photos for the first time.

We’ll go through your images together and you can choose your favourites.

You don’t need to decide what you want to purchase before your photoshoot. Once you’ve actually seen your photos, you can choose from our Digital or Product Collections that suit you, with options including Digital Images, Fine Art Prints, Keepsake Boxes, Albums, Wall Art and Crystal Blocks.

Are My Boudoir Photos Private?

Yes!

Booking a session with me does not give me automatic permission to share your photographs.

Your images are private unless you give me permission to share them.

Some women are completely happy for me to share their images. Others choose a handful of particular photographs they’re comfortable with me using. And some prefer to keep every single image completely private.

All options are absolutely fine.

You’ll never be pressured into allowing photographs to be shared.

What If I’m Not Confident Enough to Do a Boudoir Shoot?

You don’t have to wait until you suddenly wake up one morning feeling incredibly confident.

You don’t need to lose weight first.

You don’t need to know your “good side.”

You don’t need to be comfortable in front of a camera.

And you definitely don’t need to look like the women you’ve seen in somebody else’s boudoir photographs.

The women you see in my images are real women who walked into my studio with their own nerves and insecurities too.

My job is to take care of the posing, lighting, angles and all the little details you're worried about.

Your job is just to turn up.
